Message From Youth Chairman
Dear All Players, Parents, Coaches and stalwart volunteers of the Youth Rugby,
I have taken over the role of Chair from Kev Purcell who unfortunately due to work commitments has had to step down. Kev will continue in his role as U16 coach and I ask that you all continue to support him in this job.
So far this season we have seen all types of British weather and in the present cold snap, whilst great fun to the younger members, a real nightmare for us old and sensible ones.
Safety of the players is our first priority and Mark Wolfe is working very closely with the senior side to ensure that the pitches are fit for playing/training. Where there is any doubt at all about the safety of the pitches Mark will make the final decision on behalf of the youth. Mark is also responsible for marking the pitches and cleaning up around the area. A thankless task to be honest but one he seems to enjoy! Can I ask that we all support him in this role and that we try to keep our training areas clean and tidy and put used equipment away and lock up equipment stores when finished.
We have been extremely successful this season in recruitment and retention of our youth membership. This is no surprise to me as at Malvern as we have a talented group of coaches and volunteers who show such amazing commitment and enthusiasm to the game of rugby and the passing on of that knowledge and enthusiasm.
As with all things as much as we have, we need more - I would ask that you try to think of any job or activity you might be able to complete on behalf of the youth rugby and let me know - Malvern RFC have appointed a volunteers coordinator who's job it will be to get functions and activities off the ground and hunt out volunteers, so names would be appreciated.
Do you have any ideas of functions you think might work for the juniors? - I am keen for us to widen the social activities we offer let me know of any ideas.
