Under 12s Match Report for 21st March 2010

Ledbury U12s 5 pts, Malvern U12s 0 pts

Old Silhillians U12s 05 pts, Malvern U12s 0 pts

Worcester U12s 25 pts, Malvern U12s 0 pts

An impressive line up of development squads entered this inaugural competition and, despite having periods of dominance, Malvern struggled to make an impact.

A tough opening match against Ledbury started with Malvern defending an attack on their left wing and just about managing to push the hosts over the dead ball line to prevent a score. After receiving the twenty two drop Ledbury switched their attack to the right and broke the Malvern defence to score. The Ledbury backs had lots of possession provided by their pack but found the dogged Malvern defence too hard to beat a second time. The game ended with a single try victory for Ledbury.

In their next match against Old Silhillians, Malvern conceded two first half tries and an early second half try but kept their heads up and were rewarded with a good spell of sustained second half pressure. Joe Wolfe at Lock showed great determination to be first into the break down as the Malvern forwards found their stride but they were unable to get any points from their attacks.

In their final play-off game, Malvern faced a very strong Worcester squad who came third in their pool with Droitwich and Luctonians.
Malvern made some great tackles but ultimately missed too many important tackles to be able to contain a rampant Worcester forward running attack and they conceded five tries without reply.
